What are Termite Swarmers?

Termite Swarmers are the termites in the colony responsible for leaving the current colony they are in and forming new ones. They can do this because they are the only termites equipped with wings, which they use to fly away from their existing colony and find new areas to colonize.

Seeing swarmers can be scary for a lot of homeowners because they can arrive in the hundred, but there is some good news. First being, termite swarmers cannot bite, sting, or eat wood. Their only job is to leave the colony and reproduce. Second, if the swarm is indoors, the termites won’t have access to any soil and won’t be able to form a new colony. However, having a swarm indoors is a good indication that you do have a currently existing termite colony somewhere in the structure.
