Heflin Brothers, Chris Maloch Form Legacy Termite & Pest Control By Arkansas Business Staff The Heflin boys are back in the business. Jay and Marc Heflin, the sons of the late Terminix owner and Little Rock philanthropist Johnny Heflin, are teaming up with Chris Maloch, the son of former Terminix official Jim Maloch and a former employee himself, to launch Legacy Termite & Pest Control. Letters were sent out last week announcing the group's intentions to get back in the business. Chris Maloch will serve as Legacy's president, Marc Heflin will be the vice president of operations, and older sibling Jay will serve as VP for administration. The non-compete agreement signed by the Heflins when the family sold the business in 1999 expired in January, and the Heflin brothers were eager to hook back up with the younger Maloch and get back in the business. Jay said they had been making plans for four or five years. Legacy will be run out of the family's old Terminix offices on Terminix Drive off Arch Street Pike in south Little Rock. The offices also house Jay and Marc's Bird & Bear Medical home health firm, which they launched in February 2001. Nothing will change with Bird & Bear, Jay says, and he noted the Legacy Web site should be launched in 30 to 45 days. The Heflins and Malochs can trace their family involvement in the pest control industry back to 1938, which Jay says prompted the Legacy name. And yes, he added, ultimately they just may have to change their address to Legacy Drive.
